Section 4: Commerce names the onerous state laws
Is this legally binding?
Binding, sectoral. Binding, but only for a defined population: one regulated sector, or the federal government and the vendors it buys from.
The Secretary of Commerce was to publish, within 90 days, an evaluation identifying state AI laws that conflict with the policy, with attention to laws that require models to alter truthful outputs. The deadline was 11 March 2026. As of this dataset's verification date no such list had been published.
