The GAGE Standard
This is how mastery is measured here: nine commitments, published openly. Measure our programs against them. Measure anyone's programs against them. That is what a standard is for.
Every topic is a journey, not a video
Understand, see it, build it, prove it. A learner never just watches: each topic moves from compressed understanding to a worked demonstration to a hands-on artifact to an assessment. Nine content formats carry the same journey, from a fifteen-minute summary to a hands-on lab, so the idea lands whichever way a learner takes it in.
A mastery gate on every topic
No topic is complete because time passed. Every topic ends in a mastery assessment; the learner passes it or works with their Socratic professor until they do. Completion at GAGE always means demonstrated, never attended.
Judgment is graded, not just recall
Scenario responses are graded on four dimensions: evidence quality, stakeholder consideration, risk identification, and framework alignment. Grades are computed and clamped server-side. Knowing the definition is the floor; the assessment measures what the learner would actually do.
The Mastery Score: 50% continuous, 50% summit
A program credential carries one number built from two halves at equal weight: the average of every topic passed along the way, where a topic's score is its checked assessment and its teach-back averaged together, and a final Program Mastery Exam or capstone. The exam is open book on purpose, because the profession is open book. What it measures is judgment under realistic conditions.
Sourced content, verified before it ships
Every topic is researched against real, named sources and checked for gaps, bias, hallucination, and outdated material before it ships. Fabrication is a defect class we treat like a security breach: zero tolerance, fixed at the root.
Current, and honest about when
Regulation moves; static courses quietly rot. GAGE programs are maintained as living documents against the current state of the rules they teach, and when the picture changes materially, the content and the public claims change with it.
You explain it back, and that is what turns a step green
In AI Literacy and AI Governance, watching is not credit. Watched means the video actually played rather than the scrubber being dragged to the end, and each lesson then asks the learner to brief a colleague who missed it, in their own words. That explanation is graded against the lesson's own transcript on coverage, accuracy, plain language, and whether the example is genuinely theirs. Copy the source back and it is refused before a grader ever sees it. An answer that contradicts the material cannot pass, however well written. No learner is ever failed on a single machine opinion: a rejection is graded a second time, independently, and where the two disagree the benefit goes to the learner. Failing costs nothing but another attempt, with the one thing to fix named plainly.
The credential is evidence, not an assertion
A GAGE credential is a cryptographically signed living record: every mastery assessment passed, with scores, verifiable by anyone in seconds, and queryable by employers with answers grounded only in what the learner actually passed. In-progress records are visibly labeled. A forged or altered record fails verification.
The learner's own words, when they choose to show them
A learner can turn on their dossier, and then an employer who verifies the credential reads the learner's own passed explanations, topic by topic, in the learner's words, with the score and the date beside each. It is off by default and reversible at any time, because the learner owns what they wrote. Every explanation shown was graded for coverage against the topic's full source, so a short answer is never mistaken for a thin one: a pass certifies the words carried what the topic taught.
Where this standard is still short
A standard that only lists its strengths is marketing. These are the places GAGE does not yet meet its own bar, stated here so you can weigh them before you buy rather than discover them afterward.
The teach-back gate does not cover every topic yet
Commitment 07 is real where it is built: 100 of the 681 topics across the open programs currently gate on explaining the lesson back, because each one needs its source transcript first. The rest still gate on their mastery assessment, which is a lower bar. We are loading the remainder, and a topic without a transcript is never gated against material we cannot grade it with.
No outside body accredits this standard
It is ours. We wrote it, we publish it, and we hold ourselves to it in public, which is exactly why it is on this page and not in a brochure. GAGE is not accredited by any external agency and does not claim to be. What we offer instead is verifiable evidence: every claim on a credential traces to an assessment somebody can open and check.
Scaffolding fade is designed and not yet shipped
The principle that the platform should withdraw its own support as mastery grows is the most important idea in our learning model and the least built. The Socratic professor already refuses to hand over answers, but a system that measurably reduces its help as a learner improves is not running today. It is the pillar we are least willing to claim until it works.
No school-age curriculum
Everything here is written for adults doing professional work. There is no K-12 or student edition, and the reading level, the examples and the assessments all assume a working context.
