Build Log

A dated, structured record of a practice or debugging session consisting of three fields: what was attempted (specific enough to reproduce), what happened (quantified where possible), and what is now understood differently (a causal statement updating the mental model). Functions simultaneously as a learning mechanism, a retrievable reference, and a portfolio artifact.

The accumulating, dated dossier of artifacts a learner produces across this entire program, beginning with the Consequence Inventory in this topic and growing through the estate triage memo, the lineage map, the quality gate, and every subsequent chained artifact through the Module 14 capstone.

The running index of the dossier, holding one line per artifact: a number, what it is, the topic it came from, the date, and where it lives. The Build Log keeps the dossier navigable and inspectable as it grows; without it, a large dossier is a haystack rather than a record.

The learner's own accumulating written record of hardening steps completed and demonstrations witnessed across the program, referenced and added to across multiple modules, and carried forward as evidence of what the learner configured and learned.

The learner-kept file where every lab artifact is saved, dated, and labeled. Each saved artifact is a brick in the accreting capstone; the Build Log is what lets the final blueprint assemble from real work rather than be written from scratch.
