Japan's robot adoption programme is a regional network run by the ministry, aimed at labour shortage rather than at rules
On 30 June 2025 METI announced the Robotics and Regional Initiative Networking Group, the RING Project, and held its inaugural meeting. Its stated purpose is to accelerate robot adoption to eliminate regional labour shortages across Japan, by building a nationwide support system with local municipalities, support organisations and robot related institutions and sharing know how. METI's robot industry page lists it as its most recent robot policy release.

Japan's robot policy in 2025 is adoption support for small firms, coordinated by the ministry through regions, and it changes no safety duty. For a vendor it is a channel: the regional support bodies the project stands up are where small Japanese buyers will be sent for advice, so being known to them matters more than any new certificate.
