European AI Office
The body established within the Commission by Commission Decision of 24 January 2024, which implements GPAI supervisory and enforcement tasks on behalf of the Commission. Under Article 88(1) the Commission holds exclusive powers to supervise and enforce Chapter V (GPAI obligations) and entrusts their implementation to the AI Office. The AI Office's functions include systemic-risk model classification, the Code of Practice process, and supervisory actions including model evaluations and requesting market-restriction or withdrawal measures; formal fine decisions under Article 101 are adopted by the Commission.
