The Infocomm Media Development Authority launched its Green Data Centre Roadmap on 30 May 2024, offering at least 300 megawatts of additional capacity in the near term with more through green energy deployments, and committing to enhanced standards and certifications for data centres at a power usage effectiveness of 1.3 or lower.

What it changes
For an operator, a utility or a community
An operator in Singapore does not apply for a connection so much as compete for an allocation, and efficiency is the entry criterion. A utility elsewhere can see a worked example of rationing capacity by performance rather than by queue position. A community should note that a capacity cap makes the trade off explicit in public, which is rare.
