Singapore started in 2019 with a voluntary framework and has been layering instruments on top ever since. The United States started later, reset in January 2025, and has produced a new executive order roughly every quarter since. - When did Singapore start regulating AI?
- Singapore has never enacted an AI statute. Its AI governance work began in January 2019 with the first Model AI Governance Framework from IMDA, and has been built by adding instruments since, not by legislating.
