The International Energy Agency report Energy and AI, published 10 April 2025, states that data centres accounted for around 1.5 percent of the world's electricity consumption in 2024, or 415 terawatt hours, and that data centre electricity consumption is set to more than double to around 945 terawatt hours by 2030.
