The EU data centre reporting scheme: what must be filed, and by when
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1364 of 14 March 2024 sets the first phase of a common Union rating scheme. Operators of data centres with installed IT power of at least 500 kW had to file to the European database by 15 September 2024, then by 15 May 2025 and every year after, covering the preceding calendar year.

What it changes
For an operator, a utility or a community
An operator now has a defined water figure to produce for Europe, which is more than most United States sites publish anywhere. A utility can use the same indicator vocabulary when it asks a customer for data. A community should know that water usage is inside the European scheme, so the question of whether a site's draw is measurable has already been answered in the affirmative for every EU data centre above the threshold.
